How to Configure VOIP on Vigor Router

Before you start to configure VOIP on your Vigor router ensure that you have connected the Analogue Phones to the router and the router is connected to the Internet. The diagram shown below is for the 2700V router.

Your chosen VoIP Provider will supply you with the details required to configure your VoIP device. At a minimum they are:

  • Your unique username or subscriber/member number
  • Your unique password, required to access your VoIP account
  • SIP Registrar or SIP Proxy server - a domain name or IP address (e.g. sip01.astrasip.com.au)
  • SIP Port number (almost always 5060 )

For example, iiNet provides the following details:

  • Domain/Realm: iinetphone.iinet.net.au
  • SIP Proxy Server:    sip.nsw.iinet.net.au
  • Username:              00881009
  • Password:        123456789012

 


 

Step 1

Log into your Vigor Router Web Interface.

Go to the “VoIP >>SIP Accounts” configuration menu and click on the first available Index. We have selected Index 1 in our example.

Step 2

Enter the details into the required fields as shown below. These details should have been provided by your VoIP Provider.

Step 3

Check that the router has successfully registered with the VOIP provider. You should see “R” in the Status column as shown below.  It may take 30 seconds for VOIP account to register. If you have not successfully registered, then check for typing errors  that may have occurred when you entered the details in step2.

Step 4

Configure optional parameters if required.

Normally there is no need to change the default Codec (G729A/B) setting in “VOIP>>Phone Settings”.

Click on Advanced button for other custom phone settings.

In “Advanced” settings you can customise the regional Tone Settings for Australia if desired. Other default settings should be OK as they are.
